Tempus Calendar App Reviews

Brilliant Schedule Management

All of the best parts of the old Calvetica, with the brilliance of the new event entry system. For those who say this is a ripoff of Agenda, let me tell you this is not even close. It is more like a ripoff of its predecessor, Calvetica, and I love it for that. Fast, no glitches, with all the right options and an interface that just makes sense. Mysterious Trousers, I love you guys, and you have done it again. Only thing: I love the simple Calvetica icon. This one is too busy, and rather blah. New icon plz?

Not the old Calvetica--not even close

First, its not close to the old Calvetica in terms of ease of use, clarity or design. What a tragedy that whole story is. And even on its own, its buggy as all get-out. Months sometimes dont display titles. Scrolling in the list view stops arbitrarily -- sometime in one direction, sometimes in the other. And forget synchronization with MobilMe. That can take days. Two stars only because its at least better than the new Calvetica. At least Coca-Cola finally brought back Classic Coke.

Simply great!

My search for calendar apps has come to an end: This will be my one and only calendar app for the next time. Its super fast and intuitiv. And its minimalistic style is great. Thank You!

A nice clean, functional calendar app - much needed since iOS5

The app has its own way of doing things so it takes a little while to adjust to (minutes not hours) but its well worth it. With iOS4 I would have said an application like this was interesting at best but with what Apple has done to the Calendar app in iOS5 its all but a necessity. I simply cannot stand to be an adult human being using a device like an iPad in 2011 and staring at that corday themed nightmare of a UI. Im not normally someone to complain, but what Apple has done with that app and others is just horrible. Its like a rejected prop from Cowboys Vs Aliens. Anyway, in every way that Calendar is an over the top, gimmicky mess, Tempus is refreshingly clean and carefully thought through. Its not perfect but its close enough. So whats not great about it? Well for better and worse, and unlike every other calendar app, Tempus emphasizes the ease of creating calendar entries over the ease of viewing them. At least on the iPad, the month view is unnecessarily spare. It would be nice to have the option of seeing more than dots. For example even just an indication that a multiday event spanned days would be welcome. Instead I see the same dots I would with two separate events. Minimal is one thing, but there should be differentiation when things are different. Its a good app that will hopefully get better. Without this I would not manage my calendar on an iPad. So good guys guys, you single handedly prevented me from selling my iPad. Apple should thank you for this app!

Beautifully simple

If you need a simple, fast calendar, this is definitely a must-have application. They took the simplicity from Calvetica Classic and performance improvements from Fast Calvetica and combined them to create a wonderful new app.

Best Calendar App. Period.

Recently I was realizing how horrible the built in calendar app was. You can barely even see the events because theyre crammed below the month view. So, i decided it was time for a change but I was unsure of which calendar app to get. After some searching I narrowed it down to Agenda, Calvetica Classic and Tempus. I ended up buying them in that order. (I ruled out Calvetiva v4 because generally people seem to think it has so many features that it became harder to use. I dont need or want a task manager with my calendar. Wunderlist works great for that as a separate app. What I was looking for was speed, simplicity and ease of use.) After trying all three, Tempus is by far my favorite. If youd like some comparison, read on. Agenda was my first purchase, and I nearly stuck with that. The scrolling week view was perfect and easy to use. The problem was that it used the built in calendars event creation page, with its multiple taps. It just takes too long to create an event. Plus, of these three apps, Agenda has the biggest footprint being over 3mb. Not big, but I like lean apps. The next one I tried was Calvetica Classic. This one had much faster event creation and seemed quicker all around. Small footprint at 1.7mb too. However, after getting used to the scrolling week events view of Agenda, the click on date and press back button after method just seemed like too many steps to view a days events. This brings me to Tempus. Mysterious Trousers really got it right here. It took the best parts from Calvetica Classic and Agenda and combined them. Smallest footprint of all three at 1.5mb. Super zippy performance. Scrollable weekly events that can be set as the startup view (although default is Month view). Easy gesture based controls. Plus, the most options of all three. One option I was especially happy to see was the ability to change the color of calendars from inside the app. With the others I had to go to the default calendar apps settings. Overall, this is exactly what I was looking for. Congratulations to Mysterious Trousers for getting it spot on!

Love appearance, but doesnt reflect actual calendar events

I can load Apples iPhone Calendar or Agenda Calendar and accurately see events that Tempus isnt showing. Only by terminating Tempus and reloading do the events appear correctly. One star until they fix this… an inaccurate calendar app is really worth zero.

Best Calendar Replacement

Ive purchased all the popular Calendar replacements, and this is by far the best. 1. It gives you the best agenda view yet. You can see THE ENTIRE TASK SUBJECT, instead of … I dont know of another calendar that does that; 2. Lightning quick navigation to any date 3. Fully customizable display and entry screen 4. Lightning quick entry for typical tasks The only changes I would make are: 1. Use the built in calendar for detailed task editing 2. Auto color events by user defined critera

Better than Calvetica!

I love this minimalist calendar! Its very snappy, intuitive and simple, and I appreciate its emphasis on ease of use and instant cloud synching. The fact that it is universal makes this app even better than the original Calvetica app. It would be nice to have some very basic color customization options, so we could decide to change it from black and white to any other two colors as the mood strikes, but I can definitely live without it. The biggest weak point right now is just the app icon. It doesnt convey the iconic visual simplicity of the app. To wrap up, this app is great for those who appreciate simple design and ease of use. It may not be perfect (in addition to the observations above, there are minor UI issues and its just a little buggy) but its still a very, very good app.

Great application

Allows me to add a monthly appt. that is every 2nd Tuesday.

Looks Great, but Needs Work

I bought this app because it looks amazing and I think the default calendar app is kind of ugly. $3 for a better looking app was worth it to me. But I cannot use this app. I was trying to add my class schedule to the calendar but it crashed a few times and reverted back to before I added the classes, so I had to do it again. Then I tried to repeat every week on Tuesday and Thursday but I guess I touched the wrong button because it didnt repeat the first week. I dont know what happened. I made edits to an event. Went back to the app, the edits were gone. I dont know what happened. Overall it just was not polished enough for me to use. Ill stick with the default app for now, maybe it will get updated and work better. Mysterious Trousers, you should hire me, I could help you out. Oh and by the way, it only looks great from the main view. When you are adding events or viewing events, it looks like an ugly Windows Phone app.

Needs more work

Beautiful, but Id recommend a couple things. First, we need an annual calendar view. Next, the 7-day view is horrendous; its just too small and cramped. Id like to see tentative or unaccepted appointments as the Apple calendar shows (as gray until you accept/decline). Lastly, Id like to be able to change the font and styling a bit.

Not good

Too simple!!! The calendar in the iOS is way better!!!

Please change the app icon

I love everything about this app except the app icon, which does not fit with Tempuss clean and stylish look. Please consider changing the icon so it looks more like Calvetica, Sticky Playlists, and Dialvetica.

cool app, but not enough options

i prefer to see a daily/agenda view of my calendar & i dont care for the continuous scrolling. visually, i can see how others might like it. i dont hate it, but it is not the solution for me.

Bland

Just bought this. No better than the one that came with the iPad. No color, bells or whistles. $2.00 down the drain

Terrible...

The color is horrible. White background? Really? No ability to personalize. No bells and whistles. Total waste of money.

Fast, Fast, Fast

Ive tried half a dozen calendars. Must haves include quickly syncing multiple Google calendars and absolute reliability. Some look great, but sync horribly. Some sync right, but are way too slow. Tempus syncs flawlessly with Exchange setup for my 5 calendars, adds events very quickly, and does it all with a super clean UI. Only wishes? Status bar tap to get back to current day and a new icon. Seriously - its hard to believe the folks who made Calvetica and the Tempus UI made that icon. Please give it the Calvetica icon treatment!

Most beautiful calendar in the App Store

This is hands-down the most beautiful calendar app on the App Store. Its minimalistic and easy to use - by far the best calendar Ive found.

Doesnt work 4 me

Accidently hit an am time instead of pm. Cantfigure how 2 delete entry and reenter it. W/o info I need, its useless and gets me upset when I cant figure out what to do. Not everyone who uses in iPad is a tech genius
